American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA)
The American Industrial Hygiene Association is one of the largest international associations serving the needs of occupational and environmental health professionals practicing industrial hygiene in industry, government, labor, academic institutions, and independent organizations. AIHA works in conjunction with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene to promote certification of industrial hygienists. AIHA also administers comprehensive education programs that keep occupational and environmental health and safety professionals current in the field of industrial hygiene. Founded in 1939, AIHA is a nonprofit organization with more than 75 local sections and 10,600 members.
American Journal of Public Health (AJPH)
The American Journal of Public Health (AJPH) focuses on research, research methods, and public health program evaluation.
American Public Health Association (APHA)
The American Public Health Association is the oldest, largest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world.
American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES)
ASHES is a professional membership society for healthcare environmental services, housekeeping, waste management, textile care professionals and related support services disciplines. ASHES provides education, recognition for personal and professional achievements, national networking as well as affiliation and collaboration with the American Hospital Association on public policy and advocacy issues related to healthcare environmental services.
Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC)
APIC's mission is to improve health and patient safety by reducing risks of infection and other adverse outcomes. The Association's more than 11,000 members have primary responsibility for infection prevention, control and hospital epidemiology in health care settings around the globe, and include nurses, epidemiologists, physicians, microbiologists, clinical pathologists, laboratory technologists, and public health practitioners.
BOMA International
BOMA International is a primary source of information on office building development, leasing, building operating costs, energy consumption patterns, local and national building codes, legislation, occupancy statistics and technological developments. BOMA International represents 92 local associations throughout the United States and 12 affiliates in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia and South Africa. BOMA International's members are building owners, managers, developers, leasing professionals, medical office building managers, corporate facility managers, asset managers, and the providers of the products and services needed to operate commercial properties. BOMA's 16,500-plus members own or manage more than nine billion square feet of commercial properties in North America.
Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI)
Based in Dalton, Georgia, the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) is a nonprofit trade association representing the manufacturers of more than 95 percent of all carpet made in the United States, as well as their suppliers and service providers. CRI is a source of extensive carpet information for consumers, writers, interior designers, specifiers, facility managers, architects, builders, building owners and managers, installation contractors and retailers.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
CDC provides a system of health surveillance to monitor and prevent disease outbreaks (including bioterrorism), implement disease prevention strategies, and maintain national health statistics. It provides for immunization services, workplace safety, and environmental disease prevention.
Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI)
The Cleaning Industry Research Institute (CIRI) was created to raise awareness of the importance of cleaning through scientific research. CIRI's goal is to identify, catalog and expand on existing industry research to help members be more effective, improve understanding of the importance of cleaning, and influence the development of public policy.
Department of Health & Human Services (HHS)
The Department of Health and Human Services is the United States government's principal agency for protecting the health of Americans and providing essential human services.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
The FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, the U.S. food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation. The FDA is also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines and foods more effective, safer, and more affordable; and helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods to improve their health.
IFMA
IFMA is the world's largest and most widely recognized international association for professional facility managers, supporting more than 19,000 members in 60 countries. The association's members, represented in 125 chapters and 15 councils worldwide, manage more than 37 billion square feet of property and annually purchase more than $100 billion in products and services. Formed in 1980, IFMA certifies facility managers, conducts research, provides educational programs, recognizes facility management degree and certificate programs and produces World Workplace, the world's largest facility management conference and exposition.
ISSA
ISSA is the worldwide cleaning industry association, with global membership including more than 5,500 distributor, manufacturer, building service contractor, and in-house service provider companies. ISSA offers the industry's largest cleaning shows around the world; an array of educational videos and resources; networking on local, national, and international levels; industry management standards; legislative and regulatory services; and industry news specifically focused on the world's cleaning community.
National Environmental Health Association (NEHA)
The National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) had its origins in the state of California where it was incorporated in 1937. The original impetus behind the creation of a national professional society for environmental health practitioners was the desire by professionals of that day to establish a standard of excellence for this developing profession. This standard, which has come to be known as the Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Sanitarian credential, signifies that an environmental health professional has mastered a body of knowledge (which is verified through the passing of an examination), and has acquired sufficient experience, to satisfactorily perform work responsibilities in the environmental health field. NEHA's mission is "to advance the environmental health and protection professional for the purpose of providing a healthful environment for all."
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the federal agency responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related injury and illness. NIOSH is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Department of Health and Human Services.
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) seeks to reduce the burden of human illness and disability by understanding how the environment influences the development and progression of human disease. To have the greatest impact on preventing disease and improving human health, the NIEHS focuses on basic science, disease-oriented research, global environmental health, and multidisciplinary training for researchers.
National Library of Medicine (NLM)
The National Library of Medicine (NLM), on the campus of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, is the world's largest medical library. The Library collects materials in all areas of biomedicine and health care, as well as works on biomedical aspects of technology, the humanities, and the physical, life, and social sciences. The collections stand at more than 9 million items - books, journals, technical reports, manuscripts, microfilms, photographs and images.
