In the United States there are about 120,000 schools providing for the educational needs of approximately 54 million students. On average, students receive about 20% of their environmental exposure in schools.

Powdery mildew mold hyphae / spores and ragweed pollen (Ambrosia psilostachya). This pollen is an allergen. Molds often produce allergic reactions and can cause serious agriculture diseases. Note the spores being produced on the ends of the fungal hyphae.
