Salmonella enteritidis - Gram-negative, enteric, rod prokaryote; note the polar flagellum. This zoonotic microorganism causes salmonellosis (food poisoning) in humans when infected fowl, domestic mammals or turtles contaminate milk, eggs, meat, poultry or shellfish (which humans ingest).
